Acupuncture

Dr. Brenda Fortin, DC has a Certificate of Acupuncture, which allows her to perform acupuncture under her chiropractic license. She completed her acupuncture training through Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN. Many common conditions can be treated with acupuncture, and when combined with chiropractic care, recovery often occurs more quickly than when either treatment is used alone.

What’s Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is based on meridian channels that run throughout the body. When there are interferences in a meridian channel, the body cannot function properly. Acupuncture points are located along these meridians and are gently needled to help move chi (vital energy) through the body, supporting natural healing and restoring balance.

In the acupuncture field, there are different designations for people who perform this type of healing. There are chiropractors and medical doctors who receive a certificate of acupuncture and licensed acupuncturists. Licensed acupuncturists have a master’s degree in acupuncture and can practice without a licensed health professional. A chiropractor and medical doctor may practice with certification in acupuncture under their professional license.

What to Expect During Your Acupuncture Visit:

Your acupuncture session begins with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, and goals. Very thin, sterile needles are placed at specific acupuncture points to stimulate healing, reduce tension, and improve energy flow.

Treatments are gentle, relaxing, and tailored to your comfort level. Many patients experience reduced pain, improved sleep, and a greater sense of well‑being after their sessions.
